Singdam Kiatmuu9 vs Sagetdao Petpayathai
Not the full fight.
Glory 8: Tokyo Poster
Glory 8 goes live tonight (May 2/3) at 1 am ET/10 pm PT (lucky bastards). The featherweight tournament looks like it’ll be a lot of fun and Peter Aerts will be in the main event fighting Jamal Ben Saddik. Jerome Le Banner and Koichi will have a rematch of their NYE 2012/2013 fight. Albert Kraus and Andy Ristie square off. Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Jaideep Singh will also be fighting.
Jannarong Tor Thaksin (red trunks) and Rungkiat Kiatprapat
Absolutely ridiculous finish. No kidding or exaggeration the best Muay Thai fight I’ve seen this year.
Jérôme Le Banner vs Koichi
Le Banner and Koichi will have a rematch of their DREAM 18/Glory 4 fight this week at Glory 8.
So I’ll be gone all week. Got some cool videos and fights queued up, so there’s that to look forward to. Other than that, feel free to rummage through all the old stuff that I’ve posted already.
Good luck to anyone going through the same.
Giorgio Petrosyan vs Ole Laursen Muay Thai Full Fight Break Down - Control Is Fun
By: Barry Robinson of millionstylesboksing
A look at what Petro does to make Laursen look foolish in the ring. For those wondering, Robinson is a boxing coach that has worked with fighters like Fedor Emelianenko, Jose Aldo, Andy Souwer, Melvin Manhoef, Artur Kyshenko, etc.
This Week in Combat Sports (4/22 - 2//28)
We have another great week of action to finish up one an incredible month for combat sports. Just a heads up, finals are around the corner so I’ll be ghost for most of the week.
MMA
- Super Fight League 16: April 26 - headlined by Sascha Sharma (there is an entertaining video of him tapping a white belt that looks like he’s a good 50+lbs on him. He’s one of the rare Indian submission specialist that doesn’t the bulldog choke on his resume. That’s the extent of my knowledge on him.) His opponent is the 2-4 Spaniard Marc Gomez Sariol. My interest, however, lies in the kickboxing champion in the co-main event. The beautifulbiter Lena Ovchynnikova, who’s probably best known for being 0-2 in SFL by critical WMMA fans. Her opponent is Lina Eklund. What’s most interesting about Lena’s bout, is that she’s scheduled to be in China to fight the very next day on a Muay Thai card that will be discussed later on.
- DEEP 62 Impact - Deep continues to troll us by putting together a fantastic card while having no stream, only promising that they’re working on their online service. Anyway, we have three title fights headlining this one. In the main event Satoru Kitoaka coming off loss to Will Brooks at NYE looks to snatch the DEEP lightweight title from Daisuke Nakamura in what has all the makings of a good fight. DEEP bantamweight champ and one of the most exciting bantamweights in the world, Yoshiro Maeda defends his DEEP bantamweight title from DJ.Taiki. Following the lackluster way his Bellator run ended, Dan Hornbuckle looks to turn it around Japan when he challenges DEEP Welterweight champ Yuya Shirai. Masanori Kanehara (who has wins over the Korean Zombie, Kid Yamamoto, and Michihiro Omigawa) looks to make it 5 in a row with a win over Wade Choate as he fights to finally secure a deal with the UFC. Akihiro Gono makes his return after a Michael Chandler clubbing last May and announcing his retirement. He fights Taisuke Okuno.
- Legend FC 11: April 27 - LFC makes their long awaited return after taking an 8 month hiatus because who the hell knows. WIth their fighters finally able to fight again, we’ll be getting 3 title fights on this one. In the main event we have top Chinese lightweight, Jadamba Narantungalag, defending his LW title against Japanese LW Koji Ando. With Myung Ho Bae being conscripted to the S. Korean army, we’ll be getting a welterweight title fight between Luke Jumeau of New Zealand and China’s Jingliang Li. The final title fight is at bantamweight and will feature submission special Xian Ji and Agustin Delarmino from the Philippines. Yeah, LFC wants more Chinese champs bad, understandably of course. If these fights go to decision, we already know who wins.
- UFC 159: April 27- What’s left to say about this main event. We all know what the main event is. We all know who we’re rooting for. We all know what is most likely to be the outcome. All that said, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the ride. On the undercard, we have some good looking match ups. The dirty boxing Michael Bisping and the Duke Roufus standout Alan Belcher will meet in the co main event, hopefully settling all this trash talk. The top two gatekeepers at heavyweight face off when Roy Nelson takes on Cheick Kongo. D1 wrestling champ Phil Davis takes on Jiu Jitsu world champion Vinny Magalhaes in what will be an incredible grappling bout or an ugly ass kickboxing match. The main card is round out with a fight between my fellow Jersey boy Jim Miller and prospect-eater Pat Healy. The prelims are full of great match ups as well.
Mexican superhero Erik PerezMr. Tate aka Bryan “Ronda by Armbar” Caraway meets fellow TUF 14 alum and big as fuck bantamweight Johnny Brutal Bedford. Gian Villante finally gets to square off against fellow Strikeforce vet Ovince St. Preux. Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann makes her UFC debut after much anticipation against (what I assume will be) a bloated Sheila Gaff. Russian Combat Sambo champion and Kurt Angle impersonator Rustam Khabilov is back in the octagon and will face Strikeforce import Yancy Medeiros. In what I can only assume is a loser leaves town fight, Leonard Garcia will look for his first “win” in a long time (I count about 9 fights) when he takes on ‘that guy with the guillotine’ Cody McKenzie. (Note that Aoki was too much of a one trick pony for Dana, but Cody does his (literally) one trick so well that Dana was like fuck it, get this kid a deal.)Boxing
- Sergio Martinez vs Martin Murray: April 27 - One of the topP4P boxer on the planet, Sergio Martinez looks to continue his dominance over the middleweight division when he defends his WBC title against the undefeated Brit Martin Murray. On the undercard we get Claudia Andrea Lopez and Dahiana Santana fighting for the IBF Featherweight title. Also on the undercard is a bout between Argentinian Luis Carlos Abregu and Canadian Antonin Decarie for the WBC Silver welterweight title.
- Zab Judah vs Danny Garcia: April 27 - At the Barclays Center (I guess the Nets didn’t think they’d make the playoffs) Zab Judah, who’s coming off knocking off an undefeated Vernon Paris, and Danny Garcia, who’s coming off knockouts of Erik Morales and Amir Khan, will battle it out for WBC, WBA, and the Ring Lightweight titles. Peter Quillin vs Fernando Guerrero is also on the undercard.
- Amir Khan vs Julio Diaz - Khan hopes to continue off the initial success he found with new trainer Virgil Hunter when he takes on Julio Diaz. On the undercard, Haroon Khan (Amir’s brother) will make his pro debut against Stefan Slavchev. Also, undefeated American heavyweight Deontay Wilder takes on one the UK’s top heavyweights in Audley Harrison.
- Bermane Stiverne vs Chris Arreola - One of America’s top heavyweights, Chris Arreola, takes on the 22-1-1 Bermane Stiverne from Canada.
Muay Thai and Kickboxing
- C3: Simon Marcus vs Dmitry Valent: April 27 - Top light heavyweight Simon Marcus goes back to China to fight Dmitry Valent (at least, it’s one opponent this time). Strangely enough, Lena Ovchynnikova makes her second appearance on this post. She’s scheduled to fight Tang Ji the day after her MMA fight with SFL.
- Kings of Kombat 9: After getting his knee kicked in at Glory 5, Steve Moxon returns to take on Dzhabar Askerov.
Other stuff going on:
- IBJJF - Vegas Spring International Open IBJJF Championship:good luck to anyone competing in the LV open.
- K-1 World Qualifying Tour 2013 in Vilnius: K-1 continues to not advertise their shows. Artur Kyshenko is on the card as well as 3 heavyweight and 3 max fights.
- URCC 23 - Unrivaled: The Philippines continue to put on entertaining cards. Not entirely clear on who’s fighting but the URCC are the ones who first showcased the Team Lakay fighters that are putting on some great fights in One FC. We could be seeing more talent erupt from this.
- Imperium - headlined by K-1 vet and Karate Champion Ewerton Teixeira.
- UWC Mexico - New Blood 2: With the UFC looking to capture Mexico like Hernan Cortes, it might be fruitful to watch some Mexican MMA events to see who’d be on TUF Mexico (if and when that happens).
